Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 4, 2026

Read this part first. BondAlchemy is an AI app, and AI features cannot run on your phone alone. When you ask the AI Life Coach a question, draw a tarot reading, or request a compatibility analysis, your question — and your first name — are sent over the internet to our backend service and on to OpenAI, which generates the answer. Your birth chart itself is calculated on your device, your journal stays on your device, and we never sell anything to anyone. But we are not going to tell you nothing leaves your phone, because that would not be true.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Halim Öztürk ("we", "us") handles your information in the BondAlchemy app. It is written to match, item for item, the App Privacy label shown on BondAlchemy's App Store product page.

One difference from our other apps is worth stating plainly: because BondAlchemy asks for your name and uses it throughout, the data described below is linked to your identity. Our App Store label says so.

2. What we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Your name. Collected during onboarding. It personalises the app, it is attached to your analytics profile (section 4), and it is included in the prompts sent to our AI provider (section 3).
  • Your questions and written content. Anything you ask the AI Life Coach, the tarot reader, the dream interpreter or the compatibility analyser is transmitted so it can be answered.
  • Your birth details and personality answers. Birth date, time and place, plus your onboarding preferences. See section 5 — the raw birth data stays on your device.
  • Journal entries and saved readings. Stored on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data (product interaction) — which screens and features you use. Analytics only.
  • Identifiers — user ID — a unique ID generated for you inside the app, used as your analytics identifier and sent with AI requests so rate limits can be applied.
  • Identifiers — device ID — RevenueCat's anonymous app-user ID, used to track subscription entitlement.
  • Approximate location (coarse) — derived from your IP address by our analytics provider, not from GPS. See section 6.
  • Purchases (purchase history) — your subscription and trial status.
  • Other data — your zodiac sign and an age group (a range, not your birth date) are attached to your subscription profile at RevenueCat, so we can understand which readings people find worth paying for.

We do not collect your e-mail address or phone number, we do not use Location Services, and we do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA).

3. AI features — exactly what is sent, and to whom

The AI features work like this. The app sends your request to our own backend service, operated by Halim Öztürk. Our backend adds the API credentials (which is why they are not stored in the app) and forwards the request to OpenAI, whose models generate the response. The answer returns the same way.

What is in that request: the text of your question or the reading you asked for, the conversation context needed to answer it, your in-app user ID, and — for readings that address you personally, such as tarot — your first name. For the Soulmate Drawing feature, the same path is used to generate an image with OpenAI's image model; the resulting picture is saved on your device.

What this means honestly: because those requests pass through our backend, we are technically able to see them in transit — we do not read them for any purpose other than operating and debugging the service, and we do not sell or share them. Previous versions of this policy claimed requests were fully anonymised and that developers had no access to your conversations. That was not accurate, and we have corrected it.

OpenAI processes this content as our API provider under the OpenAI Privacy Policy and its API data-usage terms. Please do not enter information you would not want transmitted — including health details, financial details, or identifying information about other people.

4. Analytics

We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used. Because the app identifies you by your in-app user ID and attaches your name to that profile, your analytics events are not anonymous — they are linked to you. Mixpanel receives your usage events, your user ID, your name, and the IP address from which the approximate location in section 6 is derived. See Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.

5. Your birth chart is calculated on your device

BondAlchemy computes your natal chart locally using an astronomical ephemeris bundled inside the app. Your birth date and time are not uploaded to us. Only values derived from them — your zodiac sign and age group — leave the device, as described in section 2.2, along with whatever astrological context an AI reading needs.

One exception to name: when you type your birth place, the app converts it into coordinates using Apple's geocoding service, which means that place name is sent to Apple to be looked up. That lookup is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Approximate location

The app never asks for, and never receives, your device's location. It does not use Location Services or GPS. Our analytics provider does see the IP address that every internet request carries, and derives an approximate city, region and country from it on its own servers. That is why "Coarse Location" appears on our App Store privacy label. It is city-level at best and never precise.

7. How your data is stored

7.1 On your device

Your journal entries, saved readings, personality profile, generated images and birth details are stored locally using Apple's on-device database.

7.2 Private iCloud sync

If iCloud is enabled, that content syncs across your Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit, in your private iCloud database. That database belongs to your Apple Account — we cannot access, read, or retrieve its contents. This is genuinely inaccessible to us, unlike the AI requests described in section 3, which are not.

7.3 Photo library

If you choose to save a birth chart or a generated image, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library. It does not request permission to read your photo library, and it never reads your photos.

8. Who processes data on our behalf

  • Halim Öztürk backend — routes AI requests, holds the API credentials, applies rate limits.
  • OpenAI — generates the AI text and images described in section 3.
  • Mixpanel — product analytics (section 4).
  • RevenueCat — subscription management; receives an anonymous app-user ID, your subscription status, and the zodiac-sign and age-group attributes. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple — App Store payments, CloudKit sync, and the geocoding lookup in section 5.

9. Data sharing and tracking

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we share nothing with advertisers or data brokers. The app contains no advertising SDK, does not collect the advertising identifier, and never shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt — our App Store label's "Data Used to Track You" section is empty. We share data only with the providers listed in section 8, so the app can function, and where the law requires it.

10. Payments

Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your card details, billing address, or Apple Account credentials.

11. Data retention and deletion

Content on your device and in your private iCloud lasts as long as you keep it: delete individual entries in the app, delete the app to remove the local copy, and clear its iCloud data from your Apple Account settings. Analytics profiles at Mixpanel, subscription records at RevenueCat, and AI request logs at our backend and at OpenAI are retained only as long as needed for the purposes above and under those providers' retention practices. To have the profile and records associated with your user ID deleted, e-mail us at the address below and we will carry it out.

12. Children's Privacy

BondAlchemy is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

13. Security

  • All network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections.
  • API credentials are held on our backend, not inside the app.
  • iCloud sync is encrypted in transit and at rest, managed by Apple.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we make no claim beyond the measures listed here.

14. Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Much of this you can do yourself inside the app — your entries are editable and deletable. For anything held by us or our providers, e-mail us with your in-app user ID (shown in the app's settings) and we will action the request. You can withdraw consent at any time by ceasing use of the AI features or deleting the app.

15. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and why (sections 2–8), the right to delete it (section 11), the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note significant changes here, update the date at the top, and reflect them in the App Store privacy label.

17. Contact Us

Summary: Your journal, your readings and your raw birth data stay on your device and in your private iCloud, where we cannot reach them. Your name, your questions and your usage are linked to you and do travel — to our backend, to OpenAI, and to our analytics provider — because that is what makes the AI features work. Nothing is sold, nothing goes to advertisers, and nothing is used to track you across other apps.
